April @ Orbit 19
May 29th, 2012This April, we’re showering you with another great lineup of shows and events here at Orbit 19. In addition to our nightly and weekly specials and events, here’s another incredible list of live music that will appear this month:
Friday, April 13
We start off April with a bang by welcoming in Gainesville’s The Duppies come into town, bringing their own unique brand of “rocksteady ska”.
And they’re a perfect pair with an Orbit 19 favorite: Magadog.
Always a high-energy, high-intensity group, Tampa’s Magadog shows why they’ve been a local staple for quality live music for almost two decades.
Friday, April 20
It’s that one night of the year when we’re proud of you for just getting off the couch, washing your Cheetos™-stained hands, and putting some pants on. So, once you’re prepared to brave the gauntlet of paranoia in public, come on down for a great night of music!
First, we have Florida’s Zulu Wave grace the stage at Orbit 19. They’re self-described as “… a band. A band that plays music. Music that sounds like the moon crash landing in your swimming pool.” Well, you’ll just have to experience that for yourself, won’t you?
Also appearing is Sons Of Hippies. Creative Loafing writes, “Up from the ashes of Sarasota’s Nous Rapport came Sons of Hippies, who have carved out a gaping niche in Tampa Bay… They also put out this year’s most original release, Warriors of the Light, which culls from influences ranging from MGMT to Siouxsie and the Banshees to PJ Harvey and Radiohead.” This is a must-see.
And last but not least is Orbit 19 favorites The Proper Crooks. Every time they grace our presence at Orbit 19, they deliver a solid show in which their alternative/post-punk style really shines through, and everyone has a great time. This time surely will be no different.
This lineup is sure to keep everyone satiated for a little bit – at least until next month when we celebrate our 9-year anniversary! So until then, we will see you at Orbit 19 – home of the friendliest and most-knowledgeable staff, hippest atmosphere in the Bay area, and THE place to be anytime.
